The only complaint that I have is the rear hub. ![]() Finally, I replaced the long stem with a 40mm. I retensioned the spokes with a spoke tension meter, but they were pretty good to begin with. The hardest thing was setting up the dropper post cable, as it was about 12 inches too long. Had to throw the fork on (I replaced the Machete with a used Yari right off), bolt rotors on, set up the monster Minions tubeless (easy as can be - took 5 minutes total for both as the Duroc 40s are taped very nicely). I opened the box and all was in good shape. Shipping: I preordered, with a projected ship date of June 10 - June 25th. I would give an advantage to the Taz wheelset, as they use 32 14 gauge spokes, as opposed to 28 15 gauge (thinner) spokes that frequently break (just research the Stache, you'll see what I mean). Low level dropper post, Manitou Machete fork, similar brakes, shifters, derailleur. ![]() Everything else is pretty much the same, and Deore 10 speed is great for me.Ĭomparing the Taz to the Stache 5 … parts are very similar as Motobecane probably copied them. ![]() I looked at both the Taz 3 Trail and Comp, but chose the Trail because SRAM SX derailleurs are so long and plasticy, and the cassettes are too big and heavy. Came close a few times, but prices were high during Covid 19, and locals kept grabbing them before I could. So I tried pretty hard to get a used Trek Stache 7 with a Yari for $1500.
